Leading Edge Performance customer Scott Armstrong keeps boredom at bay with his 2002 Camaro SS six-speed that makes over 560 RWHP and over 610 feet lbs of torque thanks to Leading Edge Performance modifications.
Scott bought the car brand new in 2002 as one of the last 35th anniversary SLP Camaros built. With just over 33,000 miles on the odometer and the car back from a two year tour in Holland and a three year stink in Alaska Scott brought the car to the masters of horse power at Leading Edge Performance. “I wanted a daily driver that made enough horse power to make the guys in the exotics take notice. Garth delivered more than I ever expected. He took a stock STS rear mount turbo kit, modified it to LEP standards and gave me my dream car and then some. The car is basically stock as far as internals go. Garth recommended a custom grind LEP turbo cam, spring, retainers and a little LEP magic and delivered a beast of a daily driver. LEP modified the stock STS kit to maximize performance and drivability.
On a 110 degree day the car made 563 HP and 614 lbs of torque at the wheels.” The car is street proven in Las Vegas summer heat. “I got caught in traffic on a 114 degree day for 20 minutes. I left the air conditioning on and sat in traffic while the car idled like it was bone stock. Once out of traffic and free from obstructions I ripped the tires off the rims as I pulled away from a Ferrari through three gears. I wanted a Z06 killer and Garth delivered. The car is unbelievable! Money well spent. If you want the most out of your car and show quality installation, take your ride to Garth and the guys at LEP…there are none better. Thanks Garth.”
2000 camaro Z28 with 70,000 miles on stock motor. Track time of 11.25 @ 123mph on it's first pass. Making 624rwhp and 566rwtq at 12psi of boost.
TTi t76 street turbo kit with upgraded intercooler. Snow methanol injection kit. The car has Autometer cobalt boost and transmission temperature gauges in a dual pillar pod. The shifts are provided by a Performabuilt transmission with a PTC 2800 stall converter. The tranny is cooled with a B&M tranny cooler with electric fan. The car also has a manual fan bypass switch to cool the car down quicker for track situations. The intake is a ls6 with EGR provisions. The suspension is provided by Spohn which includes lower control arms, panhard bar, and adjustable torque arm bar with the tranmission relocation mount. The wheels are 17x9 Z06 corvette wheels with rear 275/40/17 Mickey Thompson drag radials. All the work was done by Leading Edge Performance!
This is my 2002 ZO6. It has turned out just as I dreamed. LEP installed the APS twin turbo with 8.5 lb's of boost and associated gauges. Then they tuned it to an amazing 600RWHP and 594RWTQ monster! The engine is otherwise completely stock. The exterior mods are fixed headlights and a carbon fiber hood. - Troy (Owner)
The Habu Project: The 1995 Fire Hawk # 584.
My love for this bird began in up-state New York. My high school shop teacher Mr.P drove a '97 Firehawk and like most high school teens, I drooled over the site and sound as Mr.P roared in to the parking lot. Mr.P's hawk was the very first F-body I ever drove and I fell in love with the Hawk the first moment I hit the drivers seat. I am the proud 3rd owner of the 584th Firehawk out of 671 built in 1995. I purchased the hawk in Minot North Dakota where I was stationed in early 2003. After speaking with Garth at Las Vagas Invasion 2007 The Habu Project was born. The car was dropped of to Leading Edge Performance to be transformed into a killer bird of pray. With a monster LEP 385cu.in stroked LT1 sitting under the hood & fed by an LEP/STS rear mounted intercooled T67 turbo this rare bird is a proud member of the 500+HP Club! I've always dreamed of having a little firebird more powerful then some expensive exotics such as the Porsche 911 Turbo and Ferrari F430, A HUGE THANK YOU TO LEADING EDGE PERFORMANCE STAFF & GARTH FOR MAKING THAT DREAM COME TRUE!!!!!!!!
More power to come.....The Habu Project, it's just getting started...........
